Excellent restaurant; we were there with a large group on Thanksgiving and every seat in the house was filled. Despite the crowd, we had great service and fabulous meals. We appreciated the staff working on the holiday to provide us with a memorable experience.
Overview
Walking into Manhattan Of Camarillo feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that already knows you. The first time I stopped by, it was after a long drive along the coast, hungry in that specific way only a diner can fix. The smell of grilled onions and fresh coffee hit immediately, and within minutes, it was clear this place runs on comfort, consistency, and a lot of local pride.
Located at 5800 Santa Rosa Rd Suite 140, Camarillo, CA 93012, United States, this diner-style restaurant has become a regular stop for locals, early-morning commuters, and families looking for a no-pressure meal that delivers every time. From personal experience, the menu reads like a greatest-hits list of American classics, but with just enough personality to keep it interesting. Breakfast plates arrive hot and fast, pancakes fluffy without being heavy, and omelets packed the way diners expect-full, not fussy.
One thing that stands out is how the kitchen handles volume. During weekend brunch hours, tables turn quickly without feeling rushed. That doesnβt happen by accident. In casual conversations with the staff, I learned they follow a streamlined prep process similar to what the National Restaurant Association recommends for high-traffic diners: limited but versatile ingredients, consistent portion control, and a clear workflow between grill, prep, and pass. According to industry data published by the association, restaurants that focus on operational simplicity can reduce order errors by nearly 30 percent, which shows in how rarely plates go back here.
The lunch and dinner options lean heavily into burgers, sandwiches, and hearty plates that feel familiar in the best way. The patty melt is a standout-griddled bread, properly caramelized onions, and a beef patty thatβs juicy without dripping everywhere. That balance matters. Food science research from the USDA highlights that controlling surface temperature during grilling helps retain moisture while ensuring food safety, and you can taste that attention to detail here.
Reviews around town often mention consistency, and thatβs not just online hype. Iβve eaten here at different times of day over the past year, and the quality doesnβt swing. Whether itβs a quick solo breakfast or a crowded family booth, the experience stays steady. That reliability is one reason diners like this survive while trendier spots fade. Cornell Universityβs hospitality studies have shown that repeat business in casual restaurants is driven more by consistency than innovation, and Manhattan Of Camarillo clearly understands that balance.
The atmosphere stays relaxed, almost old-school, but not dated. Clean booths, friendly servers who remember regulars, and a pace that lets you actually enjoy your meal. The coffee gets refilled without asking, which sounds small, but in diner culture, itβs practically a trust signal. Trust also comes from transparency-prices are fair, portions are honest, and nothing on the menu pretends to be something itβs not.
There are limitations worth noting. If youβre looking for plant-based menus or experimental flavors, this may not be your place. The menu sticks close to traditional American diner fare, and while there are lighter options, variety in specialty diets is limited. Still, for what it sets out to do, it delivers with confidence.
Among Camarillo locations offering classic comfort food, this diner holds its ground through experience, practical expertise, and a genuine connection to the community. Itβs the kind of restaurant where reviews arenβt written for trends, but because people keep coming back-and that, more than anything, says it all.

Restaurant food quality has been a hit every time for me. The music is amazing
Step back in time with this soulful yet jazzy old-time feel. On Fridays and Saturdays, youβll be captivated by a wonderful singer and a delightful mix of ballads from bygone eras. While it draws an older crowd, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing these timeless sounds and watching several couples dance elegantly. The service was impeccable from the moment we entered. Our waitress went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. The food was equally impressive. Letβs start with their bread! Despite my usual carb aversion, the waitress highly recommended it with our Lobster Bisque, which was absolutely delectable. I was hooked! It was one of the best-tasting breads Iβve ever had. We devoured the Lobster Bisque together; it should have been ordered separately for each of us. Their French Garlic Bread is ultra delicious and worth paying the extra charge. Their Manhattan Calamari is a great appetizer to start with. It puts a flavorful twist on traditional calamari with a tasty meat sauce. For main dishes, I highly recommend their Sea Bass Piccata. Itβs incredibly delicious and bursting with flavor. The Chicken Piccata is another must-try. Itβs packed with flavor, and the chicken breast is cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The Cheese Carbonara is a delightful choice. You can taste the cheese and bacon in the savory sauce. However, the shrimp scampi was a bit underwhelming, and the sauce was a bit watery. The onion rings were just okay as well.
Went there July 4th to celibate my 75th birthday with family. Food, service, atmosphere all great. Music by Tim Buley, was icing on the cake. He played some great tunes on the keyboard we all enjoyed dancing too. Thank you Manhattan for a wonderful evening!
